The South Huntington Water District wants to thank its customers for responding to the Island-wide call for water conservation during this very hot and dry Summer of 2010.
While recent rain showers have temporarily helped slow water demands, it is important that you continue to conserve water whenever possible. As always, lawn sprinkling continues to be the single largest use of water during the Summer months. We ask that you voluntarily water your lawns only on an "odd-even" basis. That is, if your street address is an odd number, please water only on odd-numbered calendar days. Similarly, if your street address is an even number, you should lawn water only on even-numbered calendar days. Lawns will easily thrive with a good watering every-other day.
Please also curtail any other unnecessary water use such as the hosing down of sidewalks and driveways.
