Changes to the Lead and Copper Rule

Dear Customer,

In December of 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced changes to the Lead and Copper rule. The purpose of these changes is to ensure that any existing lead water service lines are identified, removed, and replaced.   The South Huntington Water District is embarking on an aggressive data collection effort to confirm the material used on your residential water service line, the pipe that brings water from the water main into your home.

As part of this effort, the District is requesting your assistance in identifying the service line material in your home.  We need to schedule a time and day that is convenient for you, to allow us to inspect your water service at the first point of entry into your home.

If you would prefer to self-inspect your water service line, please review the questions in the form at the link / QR Code below, complete the form and submit your results. Examples of what to look for and how to identify your service line material are depicted in the questionnaire.
