NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of the South Huntington Water District will hold a public hearing on Thursday, September 9, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the adopted policy of the District to avoid contact among individuals, this meeting will be held using a telephone conference platform.
Members of the public that seek to participate may do so by dialing 1-786-535-3211, using access code 215-232-301#, at 8:30 AM on September 9, 2021. At the conclusion of the hearing, the Board will leave the record open for seven (7) days, to allow interested members of the public an opportunity to submit their written comments to the Board of Commissioners.
This Public Hearing is scheduled and being held pursuant to applicable provisions of the New York State Town Law, to elicit comments on the proposed budget for the District for the fiscal year January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022. The Board will be considering:
- The enactment of a Resolution effectuating changes to the tax rate and water rates of the South Huntington Water District, effective January 1, 2022.
- The enactment of a resolution to continue a $25.00 surcharge per quarter for the funding of well-head treatment and ancillary equipment upgrades at several of the District’s water production plants and related debt, to comply with recently enacted maximum contaminant levels (MCL’s) of 1,4-Dioxane.
A copy of the proposed 2022 budget, tax rate and water rates are available on the District’s website and copies can be viewed at the District office during regular business hours.
