Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of the South Huntington Water District will hold a public hearing on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. The hearing will take place at the Offices of the South Huntington Water District, temporarily relocated to 200 Broadhollow Rd. Suite 402, Melville, New York 11747
This Public Hearing is scheduled and being held pursuant to applicable provisions of the New York State Town Law, to elicit comments on the proposed budget for the District for the fiscal year January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2027. The Board will be considering:
- The enactment of a Resolution effectuating changes to the tax rate and water rates of the South Huntington Water District, effective January 1, 2027.
- The enactment of a Resolution making an amendment to the ordinances of the District, to incorporate any tax rate, water rate, and other processing fees.
- The enactment of a resolution authorizing re-allocation of the Water Quality/System Construction Capital Reserve Fund to the Capital Fund in the amount of $250,000.00 for the Hydrant and Valve Replacement Program, $1,400,000 for plant 17 PFAS mitigation, and $100,000 for update and revisions to the master 10-year plan for plants and distributions.
A copy of the proposed 2027 budget, tax rate and water rates can be viewed at the District office during regular business hours.
